Kitty BITE Back Series Episode 19: The Screams of Those Babies Still Haunt Me, liMes. Ur f-ed up..

Hey peoples, how have you been?!?! I have to say, I am really proud of this writing streak that I have been on. *pats self on back* So, let's get right to it!!

This week we are going to talk about the 17th component of Behavior Control under the BITE Model as described by SAH is, "Encourage and engage in corporal punishment". What is corporal punishment? Well, let's define it. According to Google, corporal punishment is any punishment that is physical (hitting, slapping, punching, caning flogging, etc). In this episode we are going to talk about the corporal punishment of children. So once again, you've been warned.

STORY TIME

• So this is one that really makes my blood boil. As someone who doesn't believe in physical punishment-ever, it was very hard to witness children as young as 9 months old being beaten with bare hands and instruments. Children who were noisy or disruptive in church would be spanked, hard, by their parents- right there in front of everyone. And when I say "disruptive" I don't mean that they were swinging from the chandeliers or anything. I mean they were giggling, playing with a small toy, crying, or being too wiggly. If the child's behavior continued or if the cult leader felt as though you didn't handle it harshly enough, he would encourage the parents to spank their children harder. If that didn't work, he would come off the pulpit and spank your child himself. At times he or the parents would even use a paddle that the cult leader had made out of paint sticks that was covered in duct tape. It was awful. The screams and cries of those babies still haunt me to this day. Sometimes when I'm really quiet, and there isn't a lot of noise around me, random intrusive noises fill my head; some of them relating to this cult. The cries and screams of those innocent babies sometimes fill my head at those times. It's brutal out here.

Until no baby is physically punished for being a child, may your hands cripple so you can't hold the paddle.
