Kitty BITE Back Episode 31: I was an outsider, liMes, and so was 1/2 the people who followed u. *FU*

Hey all of my lovely followers! I wanted to let you all know that moving forward I will be trying to post on a twice a week schedule. It has been really hard to spill these thoughts and feelings all out on the page because each time I write an episode, I relive the trauma that is associated with it. I have been working on it in therapy and its taking some time. I just wanted to let y'all know that moving forward. Anywhoooossss, LET'S GO!!

We're going to be talking about the 3rd component of Information Control in the BITE Model as described by SAH. The 3rd component is:

"Compartmentalize information into Outsider vs. Insider doctrines a. Ensure that information is not freely accessible b. Control information at different levels and missions within group c. Allow only leadership to decide who needs to know what and when"

Why would someone divide people into "insiders and outsiders"? Would this be inside a group's members? How does information sharing (or not sharing) information within a group create a hierarchy? When you create this hierarchy, how does it change the dynamic within the group?

STORY TIME!

A. "Compartmentalize information into Outsider vs. Insider doctrines to ensure that information is not freely accessible"- When I was growing up in the cult, the cult leader divided the members into insiders vs outsiders and made sure that information wasn't freely accessible to all members. This is also multifaceted because he divided not only members but non members as well into insiders and outsiders. There was a leadership team (unofficial) in the group. The cult leader didn't want official leadership titles so that he could move people around in roles as he pleased. There was a lot of information, mostly about how money was being spent, that most members never were privy to until the money was spent and he was asking for more. I feel like if the information about how money was being spent was freely accessible, people would have objected. Or maybe not, You have to understand that these people are very brainwashed and they would go along with whatever the cult leader wanted (even if it was only for himself). He loved to say "you didn't hire me so you can't fire me" and that is so telling to how he treats people.

B. "Compartmentalize information into Outsider vs. Insider doctrines to control information at different levels and missions within group"- There were different projects/missions going on within the cult. There were people (men) who would go to the jail on Sundays in-between services and do a service at the jail to try and recruit them for when they got out. The cult leader would spend the cult's money on housing, feeding, and clothing the ex-cons when they got out of jail. He would even go pick them up from the jail when they got released. And I know what you're saying, Jezebel, that sounds great! and yeah, it does, kinda... At what cost? That person is now working with these men to help reach other people in the jail and in reality what the cult leader is doing is stacking his human arsenal with stout men with guns to do his bidding. That was just one of the projects/missions that wasn't ever talked about or discussed. I just know so much about it because I was friends with one of the wives who's husband was the main organizer of the group who went to the jails.

C. "Compartmentalize information into Outsider vs. Insider doctrines to allow only leadership to decide who needs to know what and when"- I feel like I kind of have explained this throughout this series. There was a group of people who would slide in and out of different roles to do the cult leader's work and bidding. These people were never really talked about or an official group formed, so it was very easy to keep information on a need to know basis.
